Goodbye Cinnamon

Posted by Admin On February - 22 - 2010

Well after a great week of adoptions it was truly a tough weekend for Hop A Long Hollow. It just goes to show you that in animal rescue anything can happen at any time. A day after we lost Fuzz Butt we lost Cinnamon, a bunny that has been at the Hollow almost since the inception. She had a seizure problem and due to that illness she was never adoptable. The seizures had been getting worse and she was an older rabbit so in a way this was inevitable, but we still don’t like when it happens. She leaves behind her Husbun, Rags, who will miss her greatly and her loyal and loving caretakers, Brandee and Linda. We all like to think that Cinny and Fuzz Butt are both now running across the Rainbow Bridge to a large meadow of fresh hay!

We’ll miss you Cinny.

Goodbye Fuzz

Mr Fuzz aka Fuzzbutt crossed the Rainbow Bridge sometime during Friday night.  He had been taken very ill with severe bladder sludge and a bladder infection earlier in the week.  South Wilton Vet Group and I tried everything possible but his body was not strong enough to win the fight.  He had undergone bladder flushing yesterday and the vets were thrilled with the results as a large clump of sludge that had formed an obstruction in the urethra was found and they were able to remove it.  I guess it was too much for him.

Though we all expected a positive outcome - he was gone when the vet’s office opened this morning.  I can only say that we gave him what I truly believe was a happy year and a half living in the infirmary with me.  I had visited him yesterday in the vets office after his procedure and I had a sense things were not going right with him.  I was hoping that his actions were due to the anesthia and procedure he had just undergone.

Enough with the sad details - I just wanted you all to know of his passing.  He made many friends among the volunteers and adopters over the time he was with us.  So often someone asks me how he is doing.  Once you met him  - Mr Fuzz made an unforgettable impression!  Fuzzy and his butt cart (which is how he got the name Fuzz Butt!) were loved by all.

My most special thanks to Brandee and Crystal who were his caretakers in the times that I had to be away from him.  Over the year plus that he was with us he seemed to enjoy his life. His body had grown strong in the front quarters and shriveled in the rear quarters but his personality was gripping and vivid till the very end.   He had many friends, human, canine and feline.
I’m attaching a couple of photos  taken during his recent time with us.  He had become a mascot for the Hollow.  He knew what he wanted out of life and if I was late with his Banana/Medicam Cocktail in the morning or at night he let me know about it.  He could nip with the best of them!
I can’t tell you how I will miss him and I know many of you will also. His vet bill grew rather large and the Hollow account is rather small at the moment.  We have had more vet bills in the last two months   If anyone interested in making a donation towards the cost of his care you can contribute directly to South Wilton by calling 203-762-2002 and giving them a credit card number and how much you wish to contribute.  Just tell them to add it to the Hollow account.

 Sincerely,
Linda

Wow, last week was a great week for us at the Hollow. After a slow January we’re now seeing a lot of kind faces peering into bunny cages and selecting their perfect “forever friend”. Thanks to everyone who has adopted this past week and to everyone who has ever adopted from us! Read the rest of this entry »
